An Interview with Alan & Jenny Koller of 3 Queen St, Warners Bay NSW 2282 who were finalists in the Santas Warehouse Christmas Lights competition in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie NSW for 2008
The Koller home is a little hard to find as the street is divided. It is next to a 2 storey block of units on the lake end of Queen St in Warners Bay (see Map Below).
Alan & Jenny are 69 and 70 years of age and have been displaying christmas lights since moving to Warners Bay in 1995. They originally started with Christmas lighting displays in 1991 on their previouse home in Belmont South, with just a tree and a Santa that they still have.
Over the Years Alan & Jenny have built up their collection of lighting and other decoration by just adding a few items to the display each year.
"We love doing the Christmas lights each year just to the the faces of the children light up when the lights are switched on."
"Some of the familys that regularly come to see our christmas lights have been coming to our home since 1991. Many of the kids bring grandparents to see the lights".
"All in all we love doing the display just to see the looks on the faces of the little ones, and also the big ones too". Says Jenny.
The Kollers have also built up a nice display of Christmas cut-outs which gives them a good display during the day befor the lights go on. Inside their garage you will see a trip to the North Pole.
"We are pleased to be in the Santas Warehouse Christmas Lights competition and were very proud to be amoung the finalists for 2008, as we know there are a lot of wonderfull Christmas displays around Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. We sincerely wish all others good luck with the competition for the future."
The Kollers have been raising funds for the Calvary Mater Hospital Newcastle Auxiliary Cancer cares Group. They have been doing a great job raising money for a great cause.
