Christmas in July is an interesting and catchy theme for people who love to celebrate Christmas when the weather is cooler and things are not so busy. (Read about the history of Christmas in July here).
A ball is always a grand event, these days not held so often around the country, but greatly enjoyed by those who love the nostalgic and grand notion of formal dresses and dancing and wonderfull music and a celebratory evening out with friends.
The annual Newcastle & Lake Macquarie, Christmas In July fundraiser Ball is held at the Belmont 16 Foot sailing Club in July each year. Its a wonderfull event and much merryment is spread amoung the attendees.
Colleen Praniess (locally known as Mrs Christmas for her Winter Wonderland, home Christmas Decorations ) is also the the founder of the Charity Christmas Raffle as well as founder & organiser for the annual fundsraising Newcastle & Lake Macquarie Christmas In July Ball.
The 2011 Ball will mark the event's 5th consecutive year. The Organiser has started a wonderfull tradition with the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie Christmas In July Ball and has already raised significan funds for Charity through Ticket sales as well as Auctions, raffles and silent Auctions on the night.
The inaugral Newcastle & Lake Macquarie Christmas In July Ball was held in July 2007 and raised over $4000 for Vision Australia a not for profit organisation providing services, facilities, and information to visually impaired persons. Vision Australia also convene the annual Melbourne Carols by Candlelight event.
The 2008 Newcastle & Lake Macquarie Christmas In July Ball catered for around 140 people who attanded the ball and with associated fundraisings, raised over $15,000 for the chosen 2008 cause, being Hunter Life Education which lead the community empowering children and young people to make healthy choices, for a future free from the harmful effects of drugs.
The 2009 Newcastle & Lake Macquarie, Christmas in July Ball catered for over 150 people who attanded the ball and with associated fundraisings, raised over $17,000 for the local Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
The 2010 Newcastle & Lake Macquarie, Christmas in July Ball was a another fantastic event catering for over 200 people who attanded the ball with entertainment by the Buddy Holly Show and MC Mike Rabbitt from NBN and with associated fundraisings such as raffles and auctions on the night, raised over $26,000 which was again donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. The 2011 event will be held on Saturday 9th July 2011 and will again raise funds for a worthy charity. Colleen is hoping to increase the numbers again this year and needs your continued support.
